Passing out fliers for El Skate Shop
A good way to become popular?

Troy bust out with a nice smith grind, oh yeah.
So, I used to be all afraid of passing out
fliers by myself. I would call everyone up, to have some company come
along and maybe get a skate session thrown in the mix up. After a
while, nobody wanted to accompany me on these little missions. I just
ended up thinking; “Fuck it. I'll just go by myself.” First place
of business, Liberty Skatepark. When I rolled up and parked my car, I
saw that the park was almost completely full of people already
skating. Now, as a co-founder to a small skate shop, I should have
thought: “Golden.” but instead I was nervous to go out and
actually get the deed done. Atlas, I saw a few skaters that I
reconized from working at Vans. I saw Ryan M., Jacob and Chris S.
rolling around, so I called their name and got their attention. They
asked what I was doing here and I replied that I was suppose to pass
out fliers then skate a bit. Then I popped the question, if they
wanted to help. They grabbed a handful of fliers and ran out to start
passing them out. By the time I got my things together and actually
got into the park, everyone already had a flier. Awesome, thanks
guys!
Now the dirty deed was done, next point of business? Time to
skate. Now Liberty has this crazy cement bowl where every side is a
different height. With this bowl being L-shaped, it could be weird at
first and you might hate it. But after a session or two on it, you
will end up loving it. The sides are either 3.5 feet, 4 feet, 5 feet
or the 6 foot extensation and the transetions are perfect for pumping
around to get some speed.
There was a kid flying around the bowl going faster fakie then
anyone was going regular. After getting speed, he would roll up and
do fakie smiths, fakie feeble or all revert out. I should have got
that kids information. He ripped, then I over heard that he was from
out of state but used to live in the neighborhood. Just a young,
dirty hesher.
One thing I found out when I got pass out fliers, you should hang
out for a bit afterwards because people like to ask questions. Since
I was there to skate the bowl overall, it was perfect. Almost 50%, of
the skaters there came up and asked about the deals on the flier or
asked if the shop was looking for sponsors at the moment. Hey, we are
always looking for good skaters to represent! Just stop by and say
Hello, maybe even drop off a sponsor-me tape.
