How to Pick a President - 7/30/2007
Say it was your job to hire the CEO of a large corporation or the president of some large institution. How would you
choose the right person for the job?
It's pretty easy. HIRE THE PERSON WITH THE BEST QUALIFICATIONS AND WHO HAS THE BEST PAST PERFORMANCE.
In Nov. 7th 2000, it was America's job to hire a person to run the biggest institution in the world: The United States of
America. The man that was chosen for the job had the following performance record:
- C average in college.
- Publicly known alchoholic and cocaine user.
- President of two corporations that he ran into the ground.
- ruined a professional baseball team.
- Dad was the president of the United States between 1988 and 1992.
Wow! Did we choose a winner or what? And guess what? In the past six years he has probably ran one of the worst presidencies
in the entire history of the United States. What a suprise!
With that being said, I say the next time we elect a president - we simply look at their credentials. Are they a good leader?
Do they have a good performance record? Did they do well in school? Hell, were they a substance abuser?
I think if we can tackle these simple steps, we might do a little better next time around.
Wow I just found out some crazy sh*t:
In 1977 a company was formed by George W. Bush and some partners called Arbusto Energy. It was an oil company based
out of Midland, Texas. Some of the initial investment funds came from Salem bin Laden, half brother of Osama bin Laden.
That part is just trippy but that's as far as that goes. Back to performance and leadership.
This company basically performed poorly it's entire lifespan from 1977 to 1984. Just before the company completely collapsed,
it merged with a company called Spectrum 7 Energy Corporation. Guess who they made CEO of Spectrum? George W. Bush!
After one year Spectrum made a loss of 1.5 million dollars and was bought out by Harken Energy and Bush moved to on the
the board of the company as well. Way to pass on the bad luck.
Here's the best part. In 1990 Harken was doing worse than all the other companies combined. Bush sold most of his shares in
the company ONE WEEK before Harken reported a loss of $23.2 million. Anytime you make a huge stock trade
and you are on the board of a company right before something big happens - you usually go to jail. It's call insider
trading and it's strictly against the law. A group called the "Security and Exchange Commission" investigates and takes you
away. Somehow Bush got off clean - of course his dad was the president at the time.
So there you go. Three oil companies, with Bush on the board every time and each company went down the toilet.
Anyway I kept researching Salem bin Laden and his family's construction firm. It's called the Saudi Binladin Group. In 2002
the company had 35,000 employees and was worth $5 billion! And guess what? The bid Laden family builds high rises. Think
about that and now think of the World Trade Center.
So the next time you're at a party, bust in the door and say "How bout you, me and George Bush go do a line the bath room right now! Hey, how bout it buddy?!"
