Payment Frequently Asked Questions - (FAQ)

  • How do I pay?

To purchase items from elskateshop.com, you will first need to place an order on our website. Go ahead and look through our shopping cart and figure out what you want to buy. When you see an item you want go ahead and click the "add to cart" button, to hold the item in your shopping cart. Now, this does not mean you have to buy it; it is just simply put in a convenient place if you decide to purchase it later.

Once you are set on what you want to buy, simply click the "checkout" button to finish up your order. You will be asked to fill out some billing and shipping information. Then you will be asked to choose a payment option. You can use a credit card, paypal, check or money order. You will need to select the radio button, which applies to the payment method you plan on using.

If you choose to pay with a credit card, then you need to enter your credit card number and expiration date. The credit card number must be entered in 16 digits, without spaces. You expiration date must be entered with no more than four digits, the first two digits of then month it expires and the last two digits of the year it expires.

If you choose to pay with paypal, please enter your paypal email address in the "Add Comments About Your Order" box during the order process.

If you choose to pay with check or money order, then just click the radio button next to check or money order and you are almost done.

The final step is to confirm your order. After your payment method and payment has been finalized, you will be given one more chance to review your order. The total will be present as well as an itemized list of the goods you have purchased. If everything looks good, just press confirm order and you will be shipped your items shortly and that's it! If you want to change something just click the shopping cart button or link at the top right of your screen. There you can delete an item if need be, or change the quantity. You can even shop more! Once you have everything straight, go ahead and press checkout and finalize your order for the last time.

  • Do you accept checks and money orders?

Yes we do accept both checks and money order. We actually like them better than credit cards! You still need to place your order online though. Do not try to figure out the price of your items and just mail us a check or money order. This will severely delay your order from getting to your door.

Checks are slower than money orders. Money orders are as good as cash. If you send a check you may have to wait a few days so that the check clears first.

Make your checks and money orders out to: El Skate Shop.

You can get money orders from your bank, Post Office, 7-11 and I think even Wal-Mart. Ask around town if you need to.

  • Who do I make my check or money order out to?

Make your checks and moneys out to: El Skate Shop.

  • Do you accept ATM cards?

Only if they have a Visa or Mastercard logo on them. Otherwise we don't.

  • Do you accept check cards?

We no longer accept checks. Only money orders.

  • Which credit cards do you accept?

We accept the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard and American Express. We do not accept Discover card.

  • Can I pay with cash?

Yes, but it is your ass. If we get a ripped envelope with money missing, then you loose. DO NOT SEND CHANGE. You must round up to the nearest dollar. If you don't send enough we will keep your money until you send the rest. We will notify you if you need to send more money. If you send change the postal machines will get caught on the bump in your envelope that is presented by the coinage. It will snag and tear and the change will fall out. Sometimes postal employees will steal your envelope if they know there is money in it - just to teach you a lesson! So if you are going to send cash, make sure it is well hidden, so wrap it up in lots of paper. Hold up your envelope to the light and make sure you can't see the cash through the envelope.

  • Can I order over the phone?

Yes. However if no one is available to answer your phone call, please leave a long, slow detailed message and leave your phone number SLOWLY. 1-877-skate98

  • Do I pay sales tax?

Only if you live in California.

  • Is it more economical to buy more items than just one?

    YES!

Product Frequently Asked Questions - (FAQ)

  • What is the difference between a complete skateboard and just a skateboard deck?

For first time buyers sometimes it is confusing to buy a skateboard. Many skaters just buy the skateboard deck because they have all the other components needed to make up a "complete" skateboard. We sell both the deck - which is JUST the wooden plank portion of the complete skateboard and we also sell complete skateboards as well. Complete skateboards come with six components: The skateboard deck (a.k.a. - the wood plank), griptape (the sand paper stuff on top of the wooden plank), the trucks (the axles), wheels, bearings (these go inside the wheels to make sure that they spin), and the hardware (what bolts the wood plank to the trucks).

We sell two types of skateboard decks (a.k.a just the wooden planks by themselves). The first category are "blanks". These are simply skateboard decks without any screen printing on the bottom. They are just the natural wood color and the grain of the wood is shown through the lacquer. Occasionally, the bottoms will be some type of colored stain, where the wood grain still shows through. Sometimes they will be painted a flat color with no graphic or picture on it. Sometimes we will send out full graphic decks as blanks - because we purchased blemished graphic boards at blank prices. Blank skateboards are found in the "blank skateboards with grip" forum at this moment and the forum admin must be contacted.

The next type of skateboard decks we sell are called graphic decks. These are made by professional skateboard companies. They have screen printing on the bottom of the decks. They are also of the highest quality of any skateboard decks you can buy. This will also be reflected in the higher price. Graphic skateboard decks are usually picked out before they are screen printed as the "best of the batch". This means they have been inspected to have no blemishes, no warpage, no wood knots, and a perfect cut. Most graphic decks have warranties against delamination. Delamination is when the board separates in between the plies of wood. If the skateboard ever "peels" then most skateboard companies offer free replacement. To see our selection of graphic skateboard decks, please click this graphic skateboards link.

  • What are trucks?

Besides being cars with beds, they are the piece of metal that attach to the deck and have a single axle which the wheels and bearings fasten to. At elskateshop.com we sell every truck in pairs. This means you will get two trucks. Our prices on trucks are unbeatable. All trucks have an aluminum hangar with a steal axles running though it. The part of the truck that fastens to the skateboard deck is called the baseplate. The bolt that attaches the baseplate to the hangar is called the kingpin. Kingpins come in two strength grades that we know of. There is grade 5 and a stronger grade 8. You can tell the difference between the two grades by looking at the head of the kingpin. A grade 5 kingpin will have 3 tick marks and a grade 8 kingpin will have 5 tick marks. You can buy skateboard trucks by clicking this skateboard truck category link.

  • What are bearings?

Bearings are cylindrical mechanisms that go into the skateboard wheels. They have an inner central shaft which fits over the skateboard truck axles. They have an outer shaft that fits into the skateboard wheel. In between the two shafts are small steel or ceramic balls that roll in what is called a raceway. Bearings make world of difference in the way a skateboard rides. A lot of companies like to rate their bearings with the ABEC rating. The ABEC rating is just a classification of the tolerance between the individual parts of the bearings. The tighter the tolerances between the parts, the higher the rating. You can buy bearings from elskateshop by clicking this bearings category link.

  • What is hardware?

Hardware is usually the nuts and bolts that attach the trucks to the skateboard deck. Hardware also refers to the axle nuts, axles and kingpin washers, really any metal parts that are considered skateboard components. A new type of hardware has come out for attaching the skateboard deck to the trucks. These are called self-locking hardware. With self-locking hardware, one must hammer the bolts into the board, and then just tighten the nuts on once the trucks are in place. The only advantage to self-locking hardware is that the truck generally doesn't come loose and the only tool you need is a screwdriver.

Hardware that attaches the skateboard deck to the trucks come in different lengths. The most common length is 1". One can go smaller with a 7/8" bolt, the only difference being that there will no threads showing once assembled. Sometimes skaters like to add riser pads in between the skateboard truck and deck. This will give the skater added height so that the wheels have a smaller chance of touching the skateboard deck when turning. This event is called "wheelbite". Risers usually come in 1/8" increments. So if you plan on buying one set of risers make sure you have at least a one inch set of hardware. For every extra riser you get make sure your hardware is an extra 1/8" in length. You can buy hardware at elskateshop.com by clicking this link.

  • Where are the nuts and bolts? Nuts and bolts are commonly referred to as "hardware". They are located under the "hardware and bushings" category.

  • What is grip or griptape?

Grip or griptape is an adhesive sand or grit paper that is placed on the top of the skateboard deck for traction.

  • Where is the sand paper stuff that goes on top of the board?

That sand paper stuff is found in the grip tape category. Click this link to see our selection grip tape.

  • How do I put on griptape?

The answer to this question is found here. How to put on griptape.

  • What are skateboard trucks made out of?

The hangar is made out of aluminum, the axles are made out of steel, and the baseplates are made out aluminum as well.

  • Are your blanks made in China?

Yes the one's that say "China" in the title. All others are made in California.

  • Which decks have warranties?

Most graphic decks have a delamination warranty.
