Ryan Sheckler
"A 13 year kid that kicks everyone's ass. Whatchagonnado?"
We wrote that statement about five years ago. He was winning all the skate contests, beating pros twice his age. In 2003 he got first place in the X Games, Gravity Games, Slam City Jam and the Vans XXX Crown. That made him instantly pro. Now a days he is riding for Plan B Skateboards. He is looking awfully a lot like Paul Rodriguez (at least when it comes to facial hair and earrings).
Wow. I just realized he has his own t.v. show on MTV called Life of Ryan (shows you how much I watch t.v.). I guess Ryan is really coming up in the world. And I didn't know that he invented a trick called the Scheck-l-air. He is also sponsored by Red Bull and Panasonic. Not too many skaters get that type of endorsement.
Here's a secret: Join CASL if you can. CASL stands for California Amatuer Skateboarding League. A lot of great skaters came from CASL. Paul Rodriguez did. Ryan did. I use to have a list of all the great skateboarders that did CASL but I can't find it. You would be suprised at the alumni.
